Discover the Untamed Beauty of Tsavo East

Tsavo East National Park is one of Kenya’s largest protected wilderness areas, known for its vast open plains, red-dusted elephants and rich wildlife. Its rugged landscapes and remote atmosphere offer an authentic safari experience away from the crowds.

Tsavo East Experiences

Tsavo East invites travellers to explore expansive savannahs, follow wildlife along the Galana River and discover landscapes shaped by the rhythms of nature. From close encounters with elephants to quiet moments overlooking the plains, every game drive offers something different.

1. Red Elephant Encounters

See Tsavo’s famous red elephants, whose distinctive appearance comes from the park’s iron-rich red soil coating their skin. Watch these impressive animals feeding, bathing in dust and moving across the open landscape in family herds.

2. Guided Game Drives

Explore the park with an experienced safari guide in search of lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and other wildlife. The open terrain offers excellent opportunities to observe animals and appreciate the diversity of this vast wilderness.

3. Lugard Falls and Galana River

Discover the dramatic scenery of the Galana River and the rocky formations of Lugard Falls. The river provides an important water source for wildlife, while the surrounding landscape offers a striking contrast to the park’s dry plains.

4. Birdwatching and Scenic Landscapes

Look for the many bird species found across Tsavo East, from colourful bee-eaters to large birds of prey. The park’s acacia woodlands, seasonal wetlands and open grasslands create varied habitats for birdlife and rewarding opportunities for nature photography.
